No one enjoys having a fever. When you find your temperature rising there are a few things you can do to help control it.
- OTC Fever Reducers: Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil) can assist in reducing your fever.
- Lukewarm Bath or Shower: Other remedies to help you feel better include taking a lukewarm bath or shower. The key is to keep it lukewarm. Don’t make it cold, never use ice, and if you start to shiver, warm the water up and then get out and rest.
- Stay hydrated: It is also important to drink plenty of water. Sometimes popsicles are used for kids to help keep liquids at helpful levels (but if you adults want one too it’s ok with us) Just be sure you stay hydrated.
- Keep Cool: Lastly, be sure to wear light, loose-fitting clothing. This will also help keep the body cooler.
Of course, should your fever become more of an emergency situation all of us here at Elite Hospital Kingwood will be here waiting for you.
